about the project

The fascinating world of drying processes and crop storage

ARAJ is a leading brand among manufacturers of facilities for the agricultural and food industry, recognised in Poland and Europe. Facilities of this type consist of hundreds of pieces of equipment such as silos, dryers, cleaners and grain conveyors. The process of configuring and pricing these types of facilities is extremely complex and always challenging.

The aim of our project was to develop and implement a product configurator that would allow to quickly and accurately develop order specifications and sales offers. In addition, the scope of the project included additional issues related to the implementation process, including detailed planning and control of the production of components and project management, in particular managing shipment schedules. The completed system is now the main source of information on sales and project execution in the company.

Process

New areas of expertise

step 1
Analytical workshop

We try our best to understand your key needs and share our experience.

step 3
Deepening of domain knowledge

We analyse how the business domain works, learn about technical and production issues so that our solution delivers real value.

step 2
Building and implementing the solution

We explore possible options, build and run a test system to gather feedback and train users, and finally feed the system with production data.

step 4
System supervision

We monitor the performance of the production system and recommend extensions with new functionalities in order to further optimise the supported processes.

CHALLENGE

Creating a catalogue of components and rules for building complex products

One of the biggest challenges that emerged during the development of the concept of the configurator was the need to redefine products - to describe each of them as a set of components that in appropriate configurations, meeting certain rules of correctness, will allow to create any product. Thanks to such a concept, on the one hand, we were able to meet the flexibility requirement in adapting products to customer requirements, and on the other hand - to ensure unambiguousness of production and shipping components.

The process of valuation of a large drying facility with a value exceeding PLN 10 million - carried out without the use of a configurator - has so far taken several or even more than a dozen days and involved many company specialists. Currently, thanks to an IT system, it can be done in 15 minutes - even during a sales meeting with a customer.
technology

Integration with the SAP system

The solution was built on the basis of the EXSO+ platform, supplemented with the necessary mechanisms related to project and dispatch management. Moreover, the system has been integrated with the SAP brand ERP system.

EXSO-CORE
EXSO-BPO
EXSO-COM

solutions

Dedicated solution to manage complex projects

The delivered solution uses advanced mechanisms for managing complex products, including cataloguing semi-finished products, defining products, creating definition rules and ready-made pre-configurations. In addition, we have provided the ability to manage multiple price lists.

Another important aspect of the proposed solution is the handling of multiple parameters (e.g. electric power, weight, capacity) and algorithms for their calculation. The proprietary projects module that was used in the implementation allows for the management of project tasks and, thanks to the integration with the SAP system, also supports project controlling.

Sales funnel tools were used to forecast sales based on prepared offers. In order to limit the visibility of individual offers between departments and individual salespeople, ACL (Access Control List) mechanisms were used.

When configuring the various devices that make up the facility, the system autonomously calculates many important parameters, such as the number of cars needed to deliver the goods, the total electrical power used at the facility or the number of assembly hours broken down into specialist categories.
benefits
Close
Quick offer in many languages

The introduction of the configurator has made it possible to speed up quotations in several languages.

Reducing design risk

Reducing the risk of financial loss or communication breakdown caused by underpricing or overpricing of complex products.

Support for different price lists

Ability to use multiple price lists for individual markets / sales channels.

Tendering precision

The configurator enables the offeror to have precise knowledge of the cost and price of the object, ensuring accurate pricing for the client.
